Teacher Tool App Reviews

** means it is one of our favorite apps and we are using it with our students.
  • **Casper Focus

by JAMF SoftwareYear Published: This app is a way to manage your class iPads. You can easily lock students into an app so they stay focused. You can also see battery power levels. They have made some updates and I have yet to check out the new features.
  • **Class Dojo - Free

    by Class Twist IncYear Published:
**It helps teachers improve behavior in their classrooms quickly and easily. Students
can earn positive points or negative points based on their behavior. You an categorize
why they received the point and a report can be sent to the parents. I have also used
it to show students their graph. Hopefully the green area (positive points) is bigger than
    the red area. (negative points)
  • **GroupMaker - Free

by Richard de los SantosYear Published:
Group Maker looks like a pretty good app. I just haven’t had time to set it up with all
the other apps we are tying out. It allows you to take attendance, randomly pick a class
member, set, a timer, and it even provides a sound meter. You can add student photos to
click on. First you create member and then you can assign those members to multiple
groups. You can create different classes.  You can even import a class list using a txt.
file. You can also drag and drop members between groups.
  • **Photo Sketch Pencil Cartoon Filter - Free

    by Yang WeiYear Published:
Take a photograph and turn it into a sketch. I use this to make a coloring book for my
students at Christmas time. I turn each of their photos into a sketch and then put them
all into one book. It is quick and inexpensive to print the books out.
  • **Random Name Selector - Free (in-app purchases .99)

    by Walsall AcademyYear Published:
This is a great app to select students. It will even tell you when you have chosen every
student. You can have it chose any student even if they have already been chosen or
only chose a student once. I just use the free version. I don't need different themes and
since the kids don't need to see, I am not worried about advertisements.
  • **Random Team Selector - Free (in-app purchases .99)

    by Walsall AcademyYear Published:
This is the same company that made the Random Name Selector. In this app you can
create 2 groups, 4 groups, or 8 groups. The upgrade gives you more them options, but
I like the free jungle theme just fine. You can deactivate names of students who are
absent for the day if you like. Once you have entered all your student names the first
time, they will always be there. Just pick the number of groups you want, click on play
and then click on the question mark at the bottom of the page. Each time you click, it
will put a student name into a group until everyone is in a group. I would like to see it
where it just automatically creates the groups with the click of one button instead of
watchimg each student get placed in a group, but it still works well.
