• **Addimals - Free by TeachleyYear Published:  This app is FANTSTIC! It starts out with a cartoon. The kids have to solve addition  problems using count all, counting on, doubles, or tens. Each time a student answers  correct problems it opens up more cubes that cover up a picture. • **Code Squad - $2.99 by Spinlight StudioYear Published:  This is a really fun app. It is a 4 person app. Students sit on all sides of the iPad.  They have to work together to answer problems that are spinning in the middle of  the iPad. It has a mission impossible feel to it. You have to complete 4 sections before  the time runs out and your screen blows up.  My kids LOVE this app! Even my family  enjoys playing this game. • **Everyday Mathmatics Addition Top It - $1.99 by McGraw HillYear Published:  This is a 2 person app. It includes both addition and comparing numbers. Both students  draw 2 card off the deck. • **King Of Math Jr. - $1.99 by Oddrobo Software ABYear Published:  Students try to move up in status within the kingdom to become king. The kids  absolutely love this app. They must master a level before moving on. It starts with  counting, addition, and subtraction. Then it moves to multiplication and then division.  It also has geometry, measurement and time. The kids sometimes ask questions about  how to do a section, but it only takes a quick explanation because the kids are using  visuals to find the answers. Most kids who have made it to division or multiplication  are able to complete those sections too. The kids love coming up to me and telling  me their new status. • **Math Word Problems - Free ($1.99 for full version) by Tapfun Inc.Year Published:  This is a fantastic app. A story problem is give and then the kids have to solve the  problem using multiple methods. Ten frame, number line, equation, drawing and then  a final solution is completed before you move onto the next problem. • **Meteor Math - Free by Mindshapes LimitedYear Published: FREE Math meets an arcade game in Meteor Math. "Crash" meteors together to solve  addition, subtraction, multiplication and division equations. • **Number Pieces Basic by the Math Learning Center - Free by Clarity InnovationsYear Published:  We use this app almost every time we do math. It is our whiteboard. It also has base  ten blocks that you can glue together or undo. You can clear individual items or the  entire board at one time.  (Update 4/2/14: This base ten blocks and cubes started freezing, so we downloaded  "Number Pieces" (no basic) and it works well with an added feature of a sliding number  bar that you can increase or decrease the number of cubes. ) Comments (0)  on on on on on on on on on on (0)

• **Splash Math First Grade - Free ($9.99 for full version) by StudyPad Inc.Year Published:  We did purchase the full version of this app. It has so many great components to it.  The kids love trying to beat a level so they can earn animals for their aquarium.  It  covers 185 math skills and will send weekly reports to parents. It has also won an  award for best elementary app in 2011. There is a scratch pad for students to do  their work on. • **ToDo Math- Free by Locomotive LabsYear Published:  I LOVE this app. It is FREE and a great skill building app. It has different skills that are  broken into Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade. You can do the skills timed or just as  practice. It has great visual clues and mini-videos to show you how to answer the  problems.  Comments (0)  on on on on on on on on on on (0)

• 10 Frame Fill - Free by Classroom Focused SoftwareYear Published:  This app helps student recognize the partners of 10. It gives you an amount of chips  in the ten frame. You then have to add chips to fill in the rest of the frame to determine  the answer. Comments (0)  on on on on on on on on on on (0)

• Adventures Undersea Math: Addition - Free ($1.99 for full version) by Hien TonYear Published:  Complete math equation to see the hidden picture. It is also timed. Then you level up. It unlocks levels, so you can't go ahead. You can unlock everything and remove adds  for $4.99. You can also just unlock addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division  for $1.99. You can get adds free for $1.99 on the free version. The fact that there  are adds that pop up, hadn't noticed until just now, takes out the free app for me.  It is a great drill app, but I think I might already have enough drill apps. • Amazing Coin - Free (.99 for full version) by Joy Preschool GameYear Published:  I have not put this on the student apps yet. The free version has you create a pattern  using realistic looking coins. Then it says the pattern. Then you touch the value of a  coin. Each time you do something correct you get a coin in your piggie bank. There is  a memory match game with coins and their amounts. You then buy objects by dragging the exact amount of money into the box. The full version has: words, matching, add it  up, compare value, sequences, pay for items, make change, and patterns. The kids  then buy food in a story with the money they earned. This is a great app that I would  like to use when we are studying money. I wonder if letting the kids use this app during  free time will make our money unit go more smoothly. Comments (0)  on on on on on on on on on on (0)

• Frugoton Space Number - Free ($1.99 for full version) by FrugotonYear Published:  This would be a great app for preschoolers who are learning their numbers, but  I will not use it with first graders.     Comments (0)  on on on on on on on on on on (0)

• IXL Math Practice - Free by IXL LearningYear Published:  You can sign in for this if you have an account or you can use the guest account. I  believe if you have an account (online program) it will track your students data and  create reports. When I tried to use it online, the audio wouldn't work. This is a bit  of a problem for those students who can't read when you are doing story problems. Comments (0)  on on on on on on on on on on (0)

• King of Math - Free ($1.99 for full version) by Oddrobo Software ABYear Published:  We decided to buy the Jr. version of this app. It is a great app where the students  begin as farmers and try to make their way to king. They have to pass multiple layers  in different skills sets. It includes addition, subtraction & mixed 1 in the free version.  The full version adds multiplication, division, arithmetic, geometry, fractions, powers,  statistics, equations, and mixed 2. It is a multiple choice format. If you miss too many,  you must complete the level over again. It has great visuals to help determine the  correct solution. • Math Academy - Free ($1.99 for full version,ad removal) by The App Gate Inc.Year Published:  This is a great app for addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. First choose what skill you want to play, then choose time trial or endurance followed by easy,  medium, or hard. The buttons are large and the game moves nice and quickly in  between each problem. You earn coins to buy stickers at the end of each set.  When you buy stickers you are also playing tic, tac, toe. Comments (0)  on on on on on on on on on on (0)

• Math Drills Lite - Free ($1.99 for full version) by Instant InteractiveYear Published:  It has addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It gives a problem and then  4 different tools to help solve the problems. You then enter the answer into a keypad.  It gives you the option to correct the answers you previously got incorrect. The full  version adds multiple user capabilities, high score awards, visual tracking and more.  Since we have individual iPads, I would just get the free version. I have not decided  whether we will put it on the kid apps. The part that makes me think I will is that it  shows the different strategies for how to solve the problems.  Comments (0)  on on on on on on on on on on (0)

• Mental Math Game I - Free ($.99 to unlock levels) by Always Icecream & Clever DragonsYear Published:  This is an addition and subtraction game. It is a fill in the blank system. It gives  an  equation and you have to fill in the unknown number to the given solution. If you  get it wrong, it shows you the correct answer. • Murky Reef Lite - Think & Play - Free ($4.99 for full version) by FrolycYear Published:  This has math, reading and science. I would like to purchase the full version at some  point because it has multiple skills sets. It is motivating for students and has won  multiple awards. • SlateMath for Kids - Free by Slate ScienceYear Published:  This app uses pictures to show the math, but it is a little boring. I don't think  I will use this app with my students. • Teaching Table - Free ($2.99 for full version) by OpensetYear Published:  Use their manipulatives to create math lessons. They have money, shapes, counters,  dice, & ten sticks. I have not used this app much yet, but if I can remember it is there,  I think it will be great. The upgrade gives you more blank pages, the ability to save,  and pre-made lessons. • Timed Test Free - Free $1.99 to add -, *, /) by FormSoft Group, Ltd.Year Published:  This app is a little complicated to set up each time, but it works well. You can have  multiple users on the one app. It keeps track of the scores on all the past tests the  student has taken. You can have the test give instant feedback or not. An equation  above a number keyboard pops up and the student enters the answer. When you are  done with the test it shows you each problem. The ones you got correct are green and  the ones you got wrong are red.You can go back and fix the red ones. You have to push the "turn in the test" button to make the timer stop and give you a score. You can email  or print the score. You can change the number range for the questions and how many  questions are on each test. You can turn the timer on or off. This is a great app. The  paid version has subtraction, multiplication, and division. This app is clean and simple,  no fluff. The full version has a fun penguin character and more options for setup. • TouchMath Adventures - Free ($5.99 for full version) by MediaKubeYear Published:  The free version just teaches the touch math system and where the dots go. • Virtual Manipulatives - Free by ABCya.comYear Published:  This app is a nice app for fractions, decimals & percents, but therefore it is a little advanced for us. The fractions bars would be useful when we do fractions near the end of the year, but I don't know if I want to put an app on there that we will only use a few times.
